MSCS library UMaine joins HathiTrust

The University of Maine/Fogler Library is now officially a partner of the HathiTrust digital library. Patrons of the University of Maine will be able to download full PDF versions of most public domain titles in the HathiTrust, conduct full-text searches (including for in-copyright material), have access to material covered under Section 108 of the Copyright Act, and print disability access to materials the University of Maine own (or owned).

MaineCat POD test period over

The Print-On-Demand service has been taken offline in MaineCat. This is because the IMLS grant funds used to test the service have been exhausted. However, the MSCS Project Team are currently investigating different options to bring it back online. Location confirmed for MSCS ALA Annual 2014 session

MSCS is pleased to announce that the ALA Annual Conference pre-conference session  “Looking to the Future of Shared Print” will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center-N262 on Friday June 27, 2014 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (following a PAN form update from 9:00 – 9:45 am). This session is co-sponsored by MSCS and the Center for Research Libraries.  For more information about the session and the chance to register see here.

MSCS retention statements loaded into OCLC

MSCS retention commitments statement from Step 1 are beginning to be loaded into OCLC. So far approx. 265,000 statements have been loaded for MEUSP. MSCS are the first shared print project to have monograph commitments disclosed in OCLC. Eventually all 1.4 million MSCS commitments will be loaded into OCLC. Thanks go out to the MSCS Systems Librarian Sara Amato and OCLC Batchloading Services for their hard work on this.

Maine HathiTrust collection is live

The Maine HathiTrust collection is now live. MSCS PI Deb Rollins and Systems Librarian Sara Amato worked with Jeremy York from the HathiTrust to build this collection, which brings together Maine related items in the HathiTrust’s digital collection. Maine is the first state to have such a collection.
