Tweaks and Customizations in Sierra

Now that we are using individual usernames rather than logins and initial sets in Sierra, users will need to become familiar with tweaking and customizing the client. Users now have more control over the settings and can adjust them to individual preferences. Please refer below for settings that you can tweak and customize. Macros

To configure your macros, please go to Admin>Settings>Macros for an in depth guide to setting up and applying your macros. Preferences

Preferences allows changes to record displays and can be done by going to Edit>Preferences in the File menu. Select the tabs for Editor, Editor Font, Editor Colors, and Default Character Map to make adjustments to the record displays.

Look and Feel

To change the overall look of Sierra navigate to Admin>Settings>Display in the File Menu. The Sierra skin can be changed to either Half Dome or Glacier Point.

Template Prompts

Specifying whether or not you are prompted for a template is set by going to Admin>Settings>New Records. Scroll down to New Record Templates and select Prompt for template, Always prompt for template or choose a specific template.

Prompt for template — Will prompt once for a template to be used for the duration of the session. (Convenient for those who tend to consistently use a certain template per session.)

Always prompt for template — Will always prompt for a template to be selected. (Suitable for those who frequently switch between templates.)

Specific template — Will always use the specified template. (Appropriate for those who use one generic template.)

Preferred Templates

In the Record Templates settings menu Admin>Settings>Record Templates, you can build a custom list of templates (your “preferred templates”) to be used when you create records. Your list of preferred templates displays whenever you create a new record if the Prompt for template option or Always prompt for template is selected.

To add a template to your Preferred Templates list, either select it from the Other Templates list and move it over to your preferred list or select New to create a new template.

New Record Templates (On-the-fly Records)

Change your on-the-fly record template by going to Admin>Settings>On-the-fly Records. Either select a specific template (if you have a static on-the-fly template you use) or Always prompt for template (if you want to choose from multiple templates).

Session Statistics

Enable or disable the statistics screen that appears at the end of your session by clicking on the checkbox next to View session statistics upon closing.
