Project Updates
Collection analysis comparison data released
The two biggest takeaways are: 1) the large numbers of titles owned by libraries that have an existing Maine Shared Collections retention commitments at another libraries means plenty of weeding opportunities. 2) very few titles in a library’s collection are identified as Maine Shared Collections retention commitment candidates, which means the retention demands have not be viewed as onerous.
MSCC begins to document validation
Maine Shared Collections libraries that are checking their shelves to validate a title is present before agreeing to retain a title are recording this in the MARC 583 field, for example, “583 1 |a On shelf |c 20150714”. Another first by Maine Shared Collections!
