Project Updates
SCS proposal & sole source document approved by University of Maine
On February 12th, 2013 the Sustainable Collection Services (SCS) proposal and sole source document were approved and signed off on by the University of Maine. Rick Lugg and Andy Breeding from SCS are coming to meet with the MSCS Project Team and Collection Development & Technical Services folks on Friday, February 15th at Colby College to prepare for the library data pull required for the collection analysis work.
Advisory Board visit scheduled for May 2013
The MSCS Advisory Board: Bob Kieft, Lizanne Payne and Constance Malpas will be visiting us again in May 2013. They will be presenting on the 23rd May at the Maine InfoNet Collection Summit, which will be held at the University of Maine’s Orono Campus, and will also be attending MSCS project meetings on the 24th May at Colby College.
SCS proposal approved by Project Team
The Project Team at their January 9th, 2013 meeting approved the SCS Proposal for collection analysis services. The proposal still needs to be approved by the University of Maine.
Reports submitted to IMLS
MSCS in December 2012 submitted their Year 1 Interim Performance Report to IMLS. The report compares actual accomplishments with goals established for the report period.
MSCS also submitted to IMLS a budget change justification document to seek approval for changes to its budget.
Sustainable Collection Services proposal & visit
Deb, Matthew and Clem met with the Sustainable Collection Services (SCS) team at the Charleston Conference in October to discuss the possibility of contracting with SCS for collection analysis services. The Project Team received a proposal from SCS in November. Rick Lugg and Andy Breeding from Sustainable Collection Services (SCS) attended the December 12th Project Team to discuss their proposal further. Meeting with Michael Emly from the COPAC Collection Management Tools Project
Clem met with Michael Emly (University of Leeds) from the COPAC Collection Management Tools Project in the UK. Details of their meeting is included in the November 13, 2012 Project Team meeting summary.
Charleston Shared Print Pre-Conference slides now avaliable
Project PI’s Clem Guthro & Deb Rollins presentations from the 2012 Charleston Shared Print Pre-Conference are now available. Deb presented on Maintaining Momentum and Flexibility and Clem presented on Shared Print Monographs: Making it Work. The event was organized by Sustainable Collection Services with presentations from a number of shared print project representatives.
NELA presentation slides now avaliable
Project PI Clem Guthro’s presentation from NELA Fruits of our Labor: Managing Services and Space in an Era of Contradicting Print Collections is now available on the MSCS website. Clem and Barbara McDade presented as part of a join session on shared print with Rick Lugg from Sustainable Collection Services (SCS).
New MSCS Program Manager appointed
Matthew Revitt started his role as the new Program Manager for MSCS on September 10th, 2012. Matthew replaced Valerie Glenn who left the position in August.
