Upcoming presentation by our Advisory Board members

On Monday (May 21st), as part of the Maine Libraries United conference the members of our Advisory Board will be giving attendees a national perspective on shared print initiatives. We are delighted that Lizanne Payne, Constance Malpas, and Bob Kieft are willing to share their knowledge with us, as they’ll discuss current shared print projects, research involving HathiTrust and libraries, and trends in collaborative collection development.

The presentation will be in Little Hall, Room 120 on the campus of the University of Maine at Orono.

Meeting summaries are now searchable

When the site first launched, our meeting summaries were posted as Google Docs, and therefore external content that could not be searched. We are now pleased to announce that all summaries have been converted to pages, and can be searched by the site’s search engine. We have no doubt that this will make things easier for all of us in the long run!

Collection Analysis work picking up

As some of the reclamation-related work is beginning to wind down, the collection analysis is gaining steam. The collection management subcommittee met on January 10th to begin to figure out how we’ll tackle the decision-making for so many titles without going title-by-title. The summary of that meeting is up on the Progress page.  Another meeting has been scheduled for the 31st, where we’ll be looking at a sample of ~200 titles and trying to place them in some broad categories.

Project Update – November

Last week was a particularly busy week for project participants.  On Monday, the collection management representatives met at Colby College, to discuss the project goals, as well as the upcoming collection analysis.  On Tuesday, the project team held its monthly meeting, which focused mainly on project updates, HathiTrust, and some of the issues related to implementing a print-on-demand service.  And on Thursday, the Directors’ Council gathered for their quarterly meeting, where they were updated on project activities, and discussed the pros and cons associated with becoming a HathiTrust partner. Meeting summaries are available on the Progress page.
